AUDIO PRECISION GETS SMART IN STEREO: HDMI AVAILABLE ON 2-CHANNEL ANALYZERS
AP adds HDMI to the APx525 family of audio analyzers to match the needs of smartphone and set-top box designers.
The Javits Center, New York, USA, October 21, 2011: Audio Precision, the recognized standard in audio test, today announced the availability of their advanced HDMI I/O option for their APx525 family of two and four channel audio analyzers.
The HDMI option for APx analyzers had previously been available only for the eight-channel APx585. The new configuration is designed to match the needs of smartphone, tablet, and set-top box manufacturers who require digital multichannel interfaces such as HDMI, but only have need for two channels of analog audio. The APx525 family now supports HDMI, Bluetooth, and the digital serial option, allowing comprehensive test of all inputs and outputs of modern audio devices.
The APx HDMI option allows engineers to measure HDMI audio quality and audio format. All standard audio measurements are available. In addition to generating linear / PCM audio streams, APx can stream lossless formats (such Dolby TrueHD™ or dts-HD Master Audio™) and compressed formats (such as Dolby Digital™ and dts Digital Surround™) from pre-encoded audio test files. APx’s HDMI sink EDID can also be edited to test a source’s response.
“APx’s advanced HDMI testing capability has been fundamental to the improvement of A/V receiver design over the past four years,” said Tom Williams, VP of Sales and Marketing at Audio Precision. “Now HDMI is becoming standard on a new class of audio devices, and consumers expect high-definition performance there as well. An APx525 with HDMI, Bluetooth, and the Digital Serial interface gives smartphone and set-top box designers everything they need to meet the challenge.”
