APx Bluetooth® Duo Module provides faster connection time and offers a broad selection of A2DP codecs
BEAVERTON, OREGON, September 26, 2017: Audio Precision today unveiled their next-generation Bluetooth I/O module for APx Series audio analyzers. The APx Bluetooth Duo module incorporates all the capabilities and features of AP’s original Bluetooth module, while delivering a wider selection of A2DP codecs, faster pair and connection times, an increased feature set within APx500 measurement software, and improved RF shielding for use in production test environments.
Bluetooth Specifications and Profiles
Audio Precision’s next-generation Bluetooth® module, the APx Bluetooth Duo™, delivers a wider selection of A2DP codecs, faster pair and connection times, an increased feature set within APx500 measurement software, and improved RF shielding for use in production test environments.
APx Bluetooth Duo incorporates the audio features mandated within the Bluetooth 4.2 core specification and supports the Handsfree Profile (HFP v1.7), Headset Profile (HSP v1.2), Audio-Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP v1.4) and Advanced Audio Distribution Profile (A2DP v1.3). With dedicated source and sink radios, AP’s Duo module easily switches between the roles of A2DP source and sink (including AAC), HFP/HSP audio gateway and handsfree, and AVRCP target and controller.
A2DP Codecs
The introduction of AP’s Duo module expands the list of A2DP codecs available to Bluetooth-equipped APx Series audio analyzers to AAC, aptX, aptX-HD, aptX-LL and SBC. APx Bluetooth Duo can act as either source or sink for each of the supported A2DP codecs.
Integrated Audio Test
As an APx module, Bluetooth Duo is part of an integrated audio test solution, leveraging the power and flexibility of the APx system. Bluetooth Duo can share analog, digital, chip-level I2S and TDM protocols, PDM or HDMI interface capabilities installed in an APx555, APx52x Series or APx58x Series analyzer. Intuitive and powerful, APx500 measurement software provides access to a long list of Bluetooth settings and parameters, while allowing easy automation of connection, pairing and settings commands in a stepped sequence for production test applications.
“Whether in the home, office or car, wireless audio—both voice and music—is rapidly becoming an integral part of modern life,” said Dave Schmoldt, Audio Precision CEO. “Enhancing the Bluetooth capabilities of our APx analyzers—expanded selection of A2DP codecs, faster pairing time, new measurement features—helps our users maximize the performance of their next-generation wireless audio products.”
The APx Bluetooth Duo (APX-BT-DUO) retails for US$4,995 when ordered with a new APx555, APx52x Series or APx58x Series analyzer. The module is available to order now, with shipment commencing in October 2017.
