DAC Testing with APx500 Software
As part of our Audio Test Sessions with APx library, we have created a brief video detailing the process for testing digital-to-analog converters (DACs).
In this session, Daniel Knighten utilizes an APx555 B Series Analyzer to measure the performance of a DAC with a SPDIF input (otherwise knows as a digital unbalanced input). Since DACs come in many shapes, forms and sizes, there are many options for configuring your Audio Precision hardware and test setup to suit the device you're evaluating.
Throughout the training video, Knighten describes the setup procedure in APx500 software, and proceeds to demonstrate various measurements, including: level and gain, THD+N (learn more about this measurement here), frequency response and more.

Audio Test Sessions with APx are designed to educate engineers and technicians about everything from specific audio measurement applications to getting started with APx, and even a few “hidden gems” in our software. These are available to watch at your leisure and can be shared with your colleagues who may want to brush up their own audio test knowledge.
